Project Details

This project is package 1 (of 2) of a 150-mgd lake pump station on the shore of Lake Palestine. Package 1 involves the intake channel with approximately 130,000cy of excavation including wet and dry portions, barge dredging including rock removal, temporary turbidity curtain, dewatering of dredged material, spreading of disposal of dredged material, control of water and dewatering, warning buoys, and rock rip rap intake channel for erosion control. Wet well and wing wall construction include approximately 60,000cy of excavation and 8,000cy of cast-in-place concrete, with bulkhead gates and solid blank panels for five future intake pumps. Concrete piers up to 42” in diameter in soil and rock were installed. Five 9-1/2ft diameter piers with permanent steel can liners grouted in place were installed for future pump intake liners. Care of water, various site, civil, security, and roadway improvements were necessary as well as other improvements to accommodate the future pump station.
