Project Details

This project consisted of the excavation, concrete structure, and dredging for the submerged intake portion of the Joint Cedar Creek Pump Station.  Due to the proximity to the lake and the sandy soil, a soil bentonite slurry trench was installed around the entire structure to block the flow of groundwater into the excavation.  A beam and wood lagging shoring system was used to allow portions of the excavation to be vertical.    The intake structure required 200,000 CY of excavation, 50,000 CY of which was performed from barges in the lake.  The structure also required 12,000 CY of concrete, all of which was produced by BAR’s on-site batch plant.
