Project Details

This construction project consisted of approximately 67,800 LF of 108” steel raw water transmission pipeline and the installation of approximately 1,000 LF of tunnel liner plate.  It also includes the construction of a valve vault housing a 108” gate valve.  BAR was the first contractor associated with the IPL Project to successfully start-up one of these 108” gate valves, which included high velocity flushing of the hydraulic lines between the HPU and valve.  One special challenge of this project is the extremely wet and unstable soil encountered in portions of the project which require the use of 25’ pipe joints and flowable fill backfill.  This project originally called for the Waxahachie Creek to be crossed by open cut methods, however it was determined by the project team that tunneling this creek would be a better option.
