This project consisted of the complete shutdown, drain, removal, installation, testing and re-commissioning of 84” and 108” pipe, steel fittings, and Weko-seals in two different locations. The Section 1-C Connections Installation project was unique due to the weight of the tees to be installed, requiring a mobile rental crane to both unload and set the Hanson supplied pipe materials. The pipe was largely demolished in place, and the pieces removed from the excavation. Once installed, flowable fill was placed around the pipe.
Due to the two shutdowns, the specifications required performing the work from January 7, 2013 through January 31, 2013 and February 11, 2013 through February 28, 2013 during lowered demand. The time allocated for the 108” connections required 7 day per week work.
