Project Details

This project included the construction of a new 300 MGD Transfer Pump Station.   This included the installation of a 70 foot deep concrete structure requiring vertical whaler beam and tie-back shoring with the pumping pipe gallery level completely below grade.  The main transfer pumping arrangement consists of 150 MGD – 3,000hp, 4,160 V, horizontal split case pumps powered by variable frequency drives.  These pumps discharge into an exposed steel discharge header inside the pump station that was hydrostatically tested at 240 psi.  Also installed in this project was an additional discharge header for future pump station capacity.  Other pumping units include 300hp plant water pumps, and 350hp wash water pumps.  Construction outside the pump station consisted of 36” thru 72” site piping, 300 feet of dual cast in place concrete discharge flumes, electrical building, transformer yard, and various site improvements.  The concrete discharge flumes tied into the plant’s clearwell storage facilities that were under construction under a separate contract.  This unmanned facility was integrated into, and controlled by the SCADA system of the existing Eastside WTP.  BAR self-performed all of the shoring, mechanical, buried yard piping, and concrete work utilizing its on-site batch plant.
